Willowharbor Credit, a small-business funding broker in Bloomington, Illinois, takes McLean County requests through four steps: a first conversation, choosing a structure, a lending partner's review, and your decision on any offer. Partners make every credit decision and set rates and terms; Willowharbor prepares and routes the request.
Broker and lender: two jobs, two parties
A lender, or a funder in the case of an advance, provides the money, sets the price and signs the contract with your business. A broker sits before that point. Willowharbor Credit asks what the money is for, explains which structures fit, and sends the request to partners that offer that structure. We do not make credit decisions, and we cannot change a partner's decision. Willowharbor Credit is a broker, not a lender.
Step 1: the first conversation
You call, or send the short form (contact details, business name, three range picks and consent) and we call you. On that call we ask what the money is for, roughly what it costs, how long the business has operated, and where repayment would come from. No documents are needed yet.
Step 2: the expense picks the structure
The purpose usually points to one structure: a timing gap to working capital, a project to a term loan, recurring costs to a line of credit, stock to inventory financing, a machine to equipment financing. A merchant cash advance, which is not a loan, is discussed only after loan options. We explain why one structure fits better than another, and which partners offer it.
Step 3: the partner's review
Underwriting belongs to the partner. What a partner requests varies by structure, but the list usually draws on these:
- Recent business bank statements
- Filed business tax returns, plus a profit-and-loss statement and balance sheet
- A quote, invoice or purchase agreement for what the money buys
- Your entity's Illinois record and standing
- Information on existing debts
The partner decides whether to offer, how much, and on what terms. What lending partners look for explains the review from their side, and checking your LLC's Illinois status covers one record they often pull.
Step 4: comparing an APR, a factor rate and a lease payment
Offers are hard to compare when one quotes an annual percentage rate, another a factor rate, and a third a monthly lease payment. Bring them to the same footing: the total you will pay in dollars, the payment amount and frequency, the length, and any fees or penalties. Then check the payments against your slowest month. You may decline any offer; signing is your decision.
Red flags for McLean County, IL owners
- Someone promising a yes before a partner has seen a single statement
- Being hurried into signing before the last page has been read
- Being asked to pay before any offer exists
- Terms that differ from what was described on the phone
- No written total cost
Any one of these is a reason to stop and ask questions. Common ones are answered in the FAQ, the formal version of our role is in the disclosures, and how to get a business loan in Illinois lists the records worth gathering before step one.
